Quinine

In December, 2006 the FDA issued a warning to doctors and consumers that  Quinine was responsible for 665 reports of serious events.  Included were serious and deadly injuries including the blood disorder thrombocytopenia, as well as heart, kidney and liver damage.

The FDA had never approved the sale of Quinine for the treatment of leg cramps. With the exception of prescription drug Qualaquin, which is used for the Kidneystreatment of malaria, the FDA has found Quinine to be unreasonably dangerous.  Quinine is an extraordinarily dangerous drug.  Its adverse reactions are numerous and several can cause death.

 

Reactions to Quinine can damage blood and organs:
1.  excessive bleeding (Thrombocytopenia)
2.  irregular heartbeat and heart attack
3.  fatigue (from kidney or liver failure)
4.  problems with  urination (from kidney failure)
5.  fainting and/or confusionKidneys
6.  hearing loss or ringing in ears
7.  vision loss, blurred vision or even blindness
